Here is a sign of government or "elite" arrogance from a New York Times article:
"David Furness, head of strategic development at the Social Market Foundation, a study group, said that under the plan, every general practitioner in London would, in effect, be responsible for a $3.4 million budget.
“'It’s like getting your waiter to manage a restaurant,' Mr. Furness said. 'The government is saying that G.P.’s know what the patient wants, just the way a waiter knows what you want to eat. But a waiter isn’t necessarily any good at ordering stock, managing the premises, talking to the chef — why would they be? They’re waiters.'” http://www.nytimes.com/2010/07/25/world/europe/25britain.html?_r=2&hp
The new plans to take money away from the bureaucracy and give it to the GP's to manage, while Obama and the boys want to bring more control to Washington. This is not as good as private insurance or choice, but it is a huge step in the right direction.
It's sadly not hard to understand: I just watched Geithner on ABC TV. Those guys live in Neverneverland. They'll never grow up. Is it possible the British learned their lesson and Obama missed the Memo? |

| It is a truth universally acknowledged that a government bureaucracy can manage a restaurant better than an independent businessman. |

| MMM, Having dined at La Bernadine and the Senate Dining Hall, I would really like to see you support that assertion with some evidence and reasoning...among other things I want to see how you distinguish school lunch programs. |

Well, in fairness,
I love the Senate Bean Soup recipe, and as far as school lunches go, I can say from personal experience, (and I know this is only a testimonial), but hunger is the best sauce. |

| So, you appear (at least to me) to be a crap sniper, but you really are just a wise guy. My apologies, I can learn to appreciate wise guys...but how about showing us some substance. |

| MMM, what is the difference between sarcasm and irony? I believe that Irony, which is usually misused, actually means saying one thing when you mean something else. How is this different from sarcasm? |

I think irony is gentler. Sarcasm is stronger, meaner.
On my original message I was making an ironic joke. I was referring to the first line of "Pride and Prejudice". I thought everybody knew this line, but perhaps the book is more of a girl's book. |

MMM,
Either say something that has to do with economics or prepare to be terminated. You know what happens when you get into this sort of meta-conversation... _________________ Where are we going and why are we in this handbasket?!
